Los Angeles, CA: It should come as no surprise that someone who has earned the title of the World’s Strongest Man might have a hard time finding the perfect gym bag to cater to his needs and certainly, one that can meet his size. Today, the US-based company known for designing serious bags for serious athletes is thrilled to announce that it has partnered with Game of Thrones star and Icelandic professional strongman, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson. Also known as, the World’s Strongest Man.
“We wanted to work with an athlete that encompasses what we have been trying to build, both in terms of product and brand,” explained King Kong Founder, Stefan Gehrig. “And that is incredibly strong, tough and resilient, highly functional products. Hafþór oozes all of these attributes, as well as being a humble champion.”
Björnsson not only won the World’s Strongest Man title, but he has won multiple Arnold Strongman Classic titles and has placed top-3 in the World’s Strongest Man for the last eight years. And his fame isn’t restricted to the fitness community. Björnsson is known by Game of Thrones fans around the world as The Mountain on five seasons of award-winning HBO series.
“We love the fact that Hafþór has been able to translate success in a relatively low-profile and unknown sport such as the Strongman into Hollywood success, staring in one of the biggest series of all time, Game of Thrones,” explained Gehrig. “Amidst all of this, Hafþór has remained at the top of his game as a strongman athlete. We couldn’t imagine anyone better suited to represent our bags.”
For a world-renowned athlete such as Björnsson, the opportunity to represent a gym bag collection that can meet his unique needs is a real honor. “When you train like a beast, you need to have the best and strongest accessories to support you,” he
shared. “Training big means carrying lots of gear and King Kong bags are not only big enough for my needs but also tough enough to withstand my lifestyle.”
So what can fans and fellow Strongman athletes expect from this collaboration in the future? Gehrig remained quiet on the specifics, but hinted at the possibility of a new collection with more capacity and more pockets, coupled with the usual King Kong Materials; tough and durable. “Our bags are already known in our industry for being strong and durable. We can almost match Hafþór’s strength,”Gehrig jokes.
